Flight attendant ghost stores are loved by some and hated by others. There are usually two camps for flight attendant ghost stories, ones who want to see paranormal activity and those who don’t.
Being a flight attendant, you stay in many hotels, and safety should always be your number one priority when it comes to the living or otherwise.
Not all flight attendant have creepy experiences, but many do. Most hotels with the reputation of being haunted usually have a history of something terrible happening like murder, suicide, or the hotel was a former hospital or mental institution.
Flight Attendant Ghost Stories
Contents
The following stories are from flight attendants who wish to remain anonymous due to the nature of the story. Not everyone believes in ghosts; take these stories as you will, but some are downright scary!
I will not include the names of the flight attendants or the haunted hotel names to protect the identity and location of crew members.
The Lady In The Bathtub – Flight Attendant Ghost
I was on reserve and was assigned a trip to Manchester, England. I had never been there before and was excited to check out the city.
The hotel was beautiful, vast, and old. The ceilings were so high, the woodwork was intricate, and the whole place was otherworldly.
I walked around during the day, went out and had a nice dinner, and went to bed early because I had an early van time in the morning.
I fell asleep and had a terrible dream. In the dream, I walked into the bathroom of my hotel room, and a woman was standing in the bathtub. She had short dark hair and was wearing high waisted jeans. When she smiled at me, her smile practically lit up the room. But, big smile or not, she was an intruder, and I did not feel safe.
This woman incensed me because she had broken into my room while I was sleeping and she thought it was funny.
I started running toward her as fast as I could, and I screamed, “GET OUT!!!” as I swung my fist to punch her with every ounce of force I could muster.
She laughed as my fist went right through her. I swung around from the force causing me to spin around and lose my balance. It was that moment when I realized she wasn’t an ordinary intruder but a ghost.
In the dream, I threw everything into my bag and rolled out of the room faster than I had ever moved. But as I ran down the hallway, I couldn’t find my way out of the hotel. I was lost, scared, alone, and so confused.
Every turn was like a maze, and I could not get to the lobby, and then I woke up in the middle of a full-blown panic attack.
In real life, that is precisely how the hotel is; it’s tough to find your way around because there are no signs marking the exits and the hotel is so big that it’s nearly impossible to find your way out.
Once I woke up, I was startled at how real the dream was, and I became acutely aware of the high the ceilings were and the giant black wrought iron chandelier that hung over the bed like a guillotine.
I could not stop thinking that their death trap of chandelier was taunting me. It hung there, and I swear I could feel the hate radiating from it. Judging by the size, it must have weighed 75 to 100 pounds; it had multiple wrought iron points at varying lengths and hung from a thin black chain from about 15 feet in the air. I hadn’t noticed it before, but now I could not take my eyes off it.
As I lay there in bed, I was frozen and couldn’t move. I had about three hours left before the van was to pick up the crew, and I needed a shower but did not want to go into that bathroom, let alone into the bathtub.
It took about two hours to tell myself it was just a dream and stop being a drama queen. Then, about an hour before I was supposed to leave, I took the fastest shower and probably brushed my teeth for about 30 seconds before I got dressed and left to find the lobby.
It took me twenty minutes to find my way downstairs as I wandered around hallways without ever seeing another person, and I could not shake that creepy feeling. I was rattled to my core. That dream felt so real.
I stood quietly off to the side, and one of my crew members came downstairs and asked, “How did you sleep?” I told him what happened, and he started laughing and telling the rest of the crew that I had “a visitor.”
The crew started telling me that the hotel was haunted and that there was a new flight attendant ghost story almost every night! Then, finally, the van driver said to me that a woman had committed suicide in the hotel, that she fell to her death from the top of the stairwell.
He said she liked to visit and taunt other women staying at the hotel along with many other “inhabitants.”
The Cat That Disappeared – Flight Attendant Ghost Story
This flight attendant ghost story doesn’t involve a “human” ghost but a cat.
I was tired and I had NOT been drinking; I was lying in bed watching TV, and the curtains began to rustle.
At first, I thought it had to be the air conditioning unit because I checked the room when I got there and hadn’t left the room since. But then, a white cat emerged from the curtains and jumped onto the bed.
I could feel the cat’s weight, and I was shocked that there was a cat in my room and that I hadn’t noticed it earlier.
Then, the cat jumped down and disappeared. It didn’t disappear into the bathroom or under the furniture; it vanished.
You may say I was delirious from being tired, and I would agree with you if I didn’t feel the cat’s weight when it jumped onto the bed.
Flight Attendant Ghost Story – The Pillow Moved On Its Own
This particular hotel has a reputation for paranormal activity. However, one room was worse than the rest, and that was my room.
Some flight attendants love to stay at this hotel, while others avoid it like the plague.
People who know me know that it takes a lot to rattle me.
I was on a layover and fast asleep when I heard the pillow making a noise that woke me. I open my eyes to see the pillow sliding slowly from the headboard down to the foot of the bed.
Then, I could feel the weight of a body on top of my sheets and comforter, and then all of the sheets were pulled off of me and down to the foot of my bed.
The next morning before I mentioned anything to the crew, I asked them how they slept, and no one had a good night’s sleep in that hotel.
I am not the only one who has had bad experiences in this hotel.
There is something wrong & evil that lurks within that hotel, and I’ve known about it and felt it for years every time I step foot onto that property.
But, unfortunately, what started small and something I could deal with has become out of control.
The hotel staff said they would document it, but I doubt they did.
If I Scream No One Will Hear Me – Flight Attendant Ghost Story
I had just worked a redeye from San Francisco to Boston. I was looking forward to my 24-hour layover in Downtown Boston. The Redsox had just won the World Series and the energy in the air was filled with excitement.
Boston is a beautiful historic city with cobblestone streets and so much history. It’s always a great place for a long layover, because there is always something to do.
When I got to the hotel, I was at the front desk I was joking around having fun with the staff, and pretending to fall asleep on the desk. I am always clowning around, but I’m most especially silly when I am tired.
The rest of the crew and I got our room keys headed to the elevators. When I got to my room I could hardly wait to go to sleep.
As I opened the door, I noticed there was someone in my bed! I apologized and ran out of there as fast as I could and went back downstairs.
The staff at the front desk felt terrible. They knew how tired I was so they gave me a “special key”. She proceeded to tell me that the key was for exclusive entry into the lounge, and that it had free breakfast, dinner, drinks and snacks.
I love anything exclusive so I was thrilled. I told her not to worry about it, these things happen and that I appreciated the gesture.
She handed me my room key, and by now I was really ready to go to sleep. When I got to the elevator, I noticed my room was on the top floor. I always like to have the highest floor possible, so I was happy to have a room that could have an amazing view.
When I stepped out of the elevator, I realized I was on the penthouse floor. There was only one room in each section of the vast sections, and the doors were very far apart. The first thought that went through my mind was “If I scream, no one will ever hear me.”
I went into my room and it was huge! The room had a foyer, a half bath, living room, office and a huge bedroom suite with another bathroom and a fluffy king sized bed.
It was one of the best and biggest hotel rooms I’ve ever seen. It had almost floor to ceiling windows which was perfect for me to watch the Redsox victory parade. I was so happy to have that room.
I happily went to sleep early that night because I had a 4 AM wakeup, and I felt like a queen in that bed.
When I woke up in the morning to get ready to go to work, I walked into the bathroom and I couldn’t believe my eyes.
The toilet seat was UP. I stood there staring in disbelief.
I know for a fact when I went to bed the toilet seat was down, because that was the bathroom that I used.
I never ever put a toilet seat up when I’m at a hotel because being a woman, why would I?
I stood there for what felt like ten minutes staring with my mouth open trying to figure out if what I was seeing was real.
Here’s the thing, I am the lightest sleeper ever. If a pin drops, I will hear it and wake up. Once I got my bearings I walked out to the foyer to see if the door still had the security lock. It did.
I didn’t even wear ear plugs to bed that night because no one was even close to my room.
I was scared out of my mind, and I searched the room to make sure that no one else was there. No one was.
From the moment I saw the seat, the first thought that entered my mind was that it was a ghost, and honestly, that would have been the best possible scenario considering the alternative.
Flight Attendant Ghost Story – The Room In The Basement
This is the only story out of them all that was not told by the original flight attendant.
This story is odd, but considering the hotel and all the first hand ghost stories about that place that are almost equally as weird, I’m including it.
This crew had been working the same trip all month, and they knew each other pretty well because they all hung out on this international layover.
This one crew member, we will call him “John” was there.
John is the type of person who never misses a workout, and he always goes out to dinner with the crew. John is not the type of person to stay in his room during a layover.
When John got his room key, he couldn’t find his room and he was wandering around the hotel for quite some time.
On one of the floors he saw someone from housekeeping, so he asked her where the room was. She told him it was in the basement, which he thought was odd, because he never stayed in one of those rooms before, he didn’t even know that there were basement rooms.
John got into his room with the intention of taking a nap, then waking up to go to the gym with one of the guys, and to meet the crew for dinner as he usually did.
The crew met up for dinner, and John never showed up. He didn’t show up at the gym either. The crew called his phone and there was no answer. Everyone thought it was odd, because he wasn’t one to not show up to the gym or dinner.
The next morning, John got his wakeup call and he couldn’t believe it, he slept for almost 20 hours! He never woke up one time, not even to go to the bathroom.
John got ready and went to check out of the hotel, and when asked his room number, he told them.
They could not find his name anywhere in the system, so he said the room number again and that it was down stairs in the basement and that he even got his wakeup call.
The front desk staff member looked at him and said “We don’t have any rooms in the basement.”
So who showed him to his room? Why did he not wake up for almost 20 hours, and how did he get a wakeup call? I guess we will never know.
So there you have it, five creepy flight attendant ghost stories. Do you think ghosts are a pro or con to the flight attendant job? Have you had any creepy haunted hotel stories that you can’t wrap your head around happen to you?
