By the end of 2024, Delta plans to hire approximately 1000 new flight attendants. 

Applications opened on January 4, 2024, for non-LOD (Language of Destination) speakers and only remained open for one day.

After the first day, anyone who applied for a non-LOD flight attendant position was turned down (TBNT). TBNT means thanks, but no thanks.

So, everyone who is currently in the Delta flight attendant hiring process has a chance to get their wings in 2024.

Delta will most likely not open applications for any more 2024 classes, but if you don’t know by now, let me tell you that the only thing concrete in aviation is the runway.

Delta will likely open applications in the fall of 2024 to start hiring for 2025, so now is your time to prepare for a Delta flight attendant career!

The Delta flight attendant hiring process consists of seven complex and time-consuming steps:

1. Application  – First ,you must fill out the application, and according to Delta, a resume is optional.

However, I have yet to find anyone who has gotten a CJO without a resume; if you have, please let us know in the comments!

2. Talent AssessmentYou have to not only take but pass this talent assessment, or you won’t make it to the next step.

3. Virtual Job TryoutAn online “tryout” or test to determine eligibility for the Delta Flight Attendant position.

4. On-Demand Interview – This is a video interview (VI) you may also hear it called the ODVI.

5. In-Person Event Day – The Face to Face interview or F2F.

6. Job Offer – You are offered a Contingent Job Offer or CJO.

7 In-Person Training – Initial Flight Attendant Training

If you fail to pass any one step, you will have to start the process again from the beginning.

If you are not selected to advance after any step of the hiring process, Delta has a waiting period of 90 days to reapply and a new requisition number, aka req # or job #.

Is It Hard To Get Hired At Delta?

Yes, it’s very hard to get hired at Delta, and only 1-2% of applicants get hired. Delta Air Lines is one of the top airlines for flight attendants, so the competition is fierce.

If I don’t get selected to move on to the next step in the hiring process, when am I eligible to reapply? 

That is the most frequently asked question about the Delta flight attendant interview process.

Flight attendant applicants are eligible to reapply after three months. – It does, however, need to be a different reference number.

So, if it’s been three months since you were turned down for the flight attendant position, you still cannot apply if it’s the same ref#.

Delta flight attendant requirements include a range of qualifications, from physical fitness to language skills and more.

In this article, we will outline the minimum qualifications necessary to become a Delta flight attendant so you can determine if this career path is right for you.

Delta Flight Attendant Requirements:

– You must be eligible to work in the United States. Delta will not sponsor anyone when there are plenty of available candidates in the USA.

– You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.

– You must have a high school diploma or GED.

– You must be fluent in English, with the ability to speak, read, write, and understand it.

– You must be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport and travel documents to enter and exit places where Delta operates.

Non-US passport holders must be able to demonstrate their ability to enter and exit the United States without restriction.

– You must pass a pre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test and a comprehensive background check, including a fingerprint-based criminal history record check.

– You must be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with a seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

– You must be able to open emergency exits and close aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds, as well as use a food/beverage cart requiring 32lbs of force when pushing or pulling.

– You must prioritize privacy when handling personal data and embrace diversity in people and ideas.

– You must prioritize safety and security for yourself and others.

– You must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when needed.

– You must be physically fit to perform the role, which requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting (i.e., pushing/pulling beverage or food carts and lifting and opening emergency aircraft doors).

– You must be able to retrieve and store items in the overhead bins, which can be as high as 74″ from the floor.

– You must be willing to accept an assignment to any Flight Attendant base after graduation from training, as dictated by the needs of the operation.

Bilingual, or LOD, candidates will be required to stay within their assigned base for a minimum of 4 years after completing training.

– You must be flexible to relocate or commute (i.e., standby travel) to and from your assigned base location and able to fly both International and Domestic routes.

– You must be willing to adapt to meet the demands of the job, including dealing with scheduling changes on short notice.

Delta Flight Attendant Application Process

The first step in the Delta flight attendant hiring process is to apply when Delta is hiring flight attendants!

Only one application can be submitted per candidate, and candidates should not apply more than once by using different emails.

Event Day is an exciting part of the flight attendant interview process, and the entire day is dedicated to the interview.

Before Event Day, candidates will receive a guide with recommendations on what to wear, instructions on when to arrive, and where to go once they get there.

Job Offer

Delta Airlines offers a Contingent Job Offer to candidates selected from Event Day.

Job offers happen “on the spot.” It’s extremely rare (like unicorn rare) that you receive one by email if you don’t get offered an on-the-spot CJO.

You will be invited to attend Delta Flight Attendant Training if you receive a job offer.

Prospective employees who pass the initial screening process must complete the necessary documentation before their first day at Delta flight attendant training, including a background check and drug screening.

Upon confirmation, the selected Flight Attendants will receive their training date and commence a 7-week on-site training program at Delta’s World Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

This training is in-person and is initial flight attendant training.

It is an intensive initial training program where flight attendants will learn, be tested, and drilled on everything they need to get their FAA certification to become official Delta flight attendants.
